Brick Dedication – St Jude’s Children’s Hospital

It was a very moving and humbling experience to attend the unveiling ceremony for the Brick Dedication at St Jude’s Children’s Hospital on April 20th through April 22nd in Memphis, Tennessee. Our Local 926 supports many charities, but this one especially touched my heart. As you may know, St. Jude’s is a hospital that treats children with cancer. They have their own research laboratory on site as well as 3 places which house the families of those children who are ill. The houses are Grizzly House, the Ronald Mc Donald House and the Target House. There is NEVER a charge for treatment at St. Jude’s!

At the ceremony they had young children speaking of having cancer while displaying pictures of the children’s trials from being drastically ill to becoming cancer free. Needless to say, there wasn’t a dry eye in the building. There were 800 people who came from all over to attend this Brick Dedication Ceremony. We, as Members of Local 926, should be proud to have our own strong leader, President & Business Manager Sal Zarzana who encourages us to be a part of these worthy charitable endeavors. We were the ONLY UNIO to purchase a Brick. The Brick is inscribed:

In Honor of
Local 926 Carpenters Union
Brooklyn, NY
